ugh i was finally offered a relief teaching stint at queenstown sec sch for 4 days but i couldn't take it up cos im going malaysia! argh!
MOE induction
last thursday was the moe induction course...this time it was an across the board session, all the way from the top, the PSC scholars to my level, the TA level. it was really informative, i got to find out more details about my post-grad diploma programme in NIE, the latest syallabus changes in science and an overview of the latest developments in the education landscape.
first we had the usual ice breakers, split up into different groups and we had to use newspapers to design a 'cool' outfit for teaching. of cos in the end all the outfits turned out funny. quite funny to hear the different explanations like how one person carried an 8 days mag cos teachers work 8 days a week.
after that they had some senior moe officials to talk to us. not boring as i thought it would be but rather interesting. but what struck me was the speech given by NorthLight School's principal. to be honest, i initially thought northlight was just a place for moe to dump students who weren't academically inclined. but i was so proven wrong after what she said and the video she showed us. i was so amazed at how dedicated this team of staff were at giving this bunch of kids a better future and how much effort and money moe has actually put into this school. i mean, this sch has 12 X-boxes!!! and you guys should see the SmartBoard, a far cry from the chalk and blackboard we had in primary school. this school is really impressive.
lastly we were broken up according to our respective subject disciplines but im not going to go into that. i guess the next time i get to to see the other future teachers would be during the teaching scholarship presentation ceremony! hahaha
